1397 – Zombies Stole My Candy

Zombies Stole My Candy
Fact: Zombies are easily distracted by shiny things and sweet treats.

Zombies Stole My Candy

On Halloween, strange things are seen,
but this one was a dandy:
Before my eyes, to my surprise
some zombies stole my candy.

I thought, “how weird” as they appeared
to steal what I’d acquired,
for weren’t the brains my skull contains
what walking dead required?

I beat the street in my retreat
as zombies were pursuing,
but it was clear as they drew near
what they were bent on chewing.

I ran away from their decay
but dumped by candy treasure.
The zombies stopped at what I’d dropped
and gobbled it with pleasure.

A sweet relief, but gravest grief:
I groaned as they kept eating.
My spirit soured while they devoured
my trove of trick-or-treating.

But I supposed those decomposed
were too content to harm me.
I’d rather give my treats and live
than join their zombie army.
