Old Fred McGee from Forest Glade
with wrinkled skin and hair that’s grayed,
who needs a cane and hearing aid,
is far too old for second grade.
But all the lousy marks he’s made
ensured that this is where he’s stayed.I know, I know, it sounds absurd –
perhaps the oddest thing you’ve heard –
for how on earth has this occurred?!
By now he should’ve moved to third
but his promotion’s been deferred:
he’s never learned to read a word.
