#903 – The Best Art

The Best Art
My opinion: art is the only activity where mere participation deserves an award.

The Whatabouts

The Whatabouts are whisperings
of worries, fears, and doubts.
They quash your creativity
with all their “whatabouts”.

You draw, you sing, you write, you paint.
You’re good at artsy stuff.
But whatabouts will make you think
You’re never good enough.

Like, “whatabout if no one reads
the poems that I wrote?”
or, “Whatabout if no one wants
to hear me sing a note?”

Or, “whatabout if when I dance
I trip and slip and fall?”
Or, “whatabout if what I draw
just isn’t good at all.”

But please believe me when I say
you’re great at what you do.
So boldly write and paint and sing
and and dance and doodle too.

You make the world more beautiful
with words and art and song.
Don’t listen to the whatabouts:
they’re always, always wrong.
