#686 – Freewheeling

Freewheeling
The expression here is somewhere between happy and horrified.

Free Bike

She discovered a bike
someone threw in the trash,
So she hopped on its seat
and took off with a dash.

First she pedaled and pumped
to a breathtaking speed
then she zipped as she zoomed
on that two-wheeler steed

She was proud of herself
for her bike-finding skills
as she rode over valleys
and treacherous hills.

But a little too late
she soon learned her mistake:
shed forgotten to check
if it had any brakes.

A bonus poem:

Ten Speeds vs. Two Speeds

Bill’s got a fancy bike —
Ten speeds that thing can go.
They range from “lightning-fast”
to “super-duper slow”.

Jill’s also got a bike,
but hers has two speeds, tops.
One speed it has is “goes”.
The other speed is “stops”.
