1702 – Not a Rooster

Not a Rooster
Maybe a Mooster

No More Crowing

The rooster alighted
the top of the fence.
The sun had been sighted:
his sign to commence.

“I’m tired of crowing,”
The rooster remarked.
“The farmers need knowing
that daylight has sparked
but everyone cringes
whenever I cheer.
The sound of it singes
their innermost ear.”

So that was the morning
he tried something new.
We woke without warning
to echoes of “MOOOOOOOOOO!”
