So Long, Summertime
The middle of September
may smolder like an ember
when Summertime is nearly at its end.
Then, conquered by October,
the Summer days are over,
and soon we’re whipped with wicked Winter wind.It only lasts a minute –
enjoy it while you’re in it…
it won’t be very long until it’s gone.
When Summertime’s just started,
it’s already departed,
but Wintertime drags on and on and on.
Note: of all of the poems I have written – even though it isn’t funny – this is my favorite.
This is great; well done. -Ed
Thanks for the feedback and for sharing this with your readership yesterday!
Ha! I love it! It reminds me of Flanders and Swann’s take on the nursery rhyme January brings the snow – do you know it?
I’m glad you enjoyed this! No, I’m not familiar with that poem. Would you mind sharing a link to it?
