1585 – Check the Engine

Check the Engine
“We’ve got your motor running again, but I would avoid heading out on any highways just yet.”

What Makes a Cat Purr?

Say, what’s inside a cat that makes it purr?
What keen machine hides deep beneath its fur?
No belts or gears that I can see,
and no apparent battery,
but sounds within suggest to me
a turning, churning engine’s hum and whirr.

To activate the dynamo within,
the mystery that stirs beneath the skin,
You find a cat that’s dreaming deep
in drowsy, dozey, snoozy sleep
and then without the slightest peep
you give a little tickle on her chin.
