1696 – Bouncing Off the Walls

Bouncing Off the Walls
Ping ping PING! Ricochet Rabbit!

That One Time I Tried Coffee

Addicting aroma. So bitter. So brown.
I brewed up a cup and I guzzled it down.
I’d not ever tried it, no never a drop,
but found myself wholly unable to stop.

I swallowed another, then seven (I think)
to empty the pot of the powerful drink.
My nerves were electric. My senses, more keen
enhanced by the hectic effects of CAFFEINE.

But furious feelings were starting to stir.
My body was blazing, becoming a blur
that carelessly caromed through bedrooms and halls
while bouncing off furniture, ceilings and walls.

My family fought as I dizzily dashed
to keep me contained til I finally crashed.
And once they  restrained me, they said with chagrin,
“You’re never allowed to drink coffee again.”
