1538 – Bad Banana

Bad Banana
I am grateful for fruit flies, for because of them, I never have to wonder if someone finds me attractive.

Who Named the Fruits

We call the orange “Oranges.”
Their color is their name.
And yet, I think, no other fruit
is treated quite the same.
For if we did, we might confuse
their monikers instead.
Like, would we name the apples “Greens”
or would we call them “Red”?
And what about the peaches?
Are they “Yellow-Orange-Pinks”?
We’re better leaving all their names
as what they are, methinks.
But this I know, as labels go,
for certain yellow snacks:
bananas would be
“Eat-Them-Now-Before-They-All-Turn-Blacks.”
