1625 – Sleeping In

Sleeping In
If I were the groundhog, I would never see my shadow because my eyes would stay closed.

Dear Phil

Dear Phil from Punxsutawney,
You ever-clever fellow:
are six weeks more of snow in store
or will the winter mellow?

Prognosticating groundhog,
how often are you doubted?
How do you know if it will snow
or Spring is nearly sprouted?

You didn’t see your shadow,
but whether fact or fiction,
the Winter dies, and Spring will rise…
no matter your prediction.
