#539 – Too Tired

Too Tired
Poor Sugarplum. What did she ever do to these mice, except try to eat them?

Too Tired

I’d like to climb the highest tree,
or swim across the widest sea,
or run from here to Tennessee,
but I am just too tired.

It might be nice to go and play,
or fly a kite down by the bay,
or “borrow” uncle Frank’s toupee,
but I am just too tired.

I’d make a house with sticks and glue,
or wrestle with a kangaroo,
or even paint my brother blue,
but I am just too tired.

I’m lying in a crumpled heap
and wishing I could get some sleep.
Perhaps I should try counting sheep…
but I am just too tired.
