1531 – Too Late for Sunscreen

Too Late for Sunscreen
…but evidently, wearing a scarf at the beach is fine?!

The Sun is Close

I’m certain son, the shining sun
is twenty feet away.
At least it seems its blazing beams
are closer than they say.

I’m told our star is mighty far
but in its blinding light,
I burn and bake. And as I ache,
I know that I am right.

I didn’t think I’d get so pink
upon my arms and face.
But as I peel, it can’t – I feel –
be up in outer space.
