#894 – The Last Leaf

The Last Leaf
Hold on to summertime, little leaf.

Autumn’s Wonder

Red and orange, brown and amber
turn the hues of autumn trees.
Then the leaves become a litter
as a flitter in the breeze.

Watch them trip the light fantastic
As they’re dancing to the ground
Whipped by winds of wild October
while they scatter all around.

End of summer, Autumn’s wonder:
Beauty in the mess they make
going unappreciated
by the kids to have to rake.
