1269 – The Better Dog

The Better Dog
If it means less pooper scooper, I’d consider a robot dog myself.

It isn’t easy bein’ a dog

It isn’t easy bein’ a dog.
No it’s not easy bein’ a dog.
I wish they’d leave me alone,
but then they capture my bone
and then they get lots of kicks
from makin’ me do some tricks.
But when I’m ready to play
they only shout, “Go away!”
It isn’t easy bein’ a dog.

It’s often tough to be a hound,
like when there ain’t no food around.
Sometimes I wish and I wish
for something good in my dish.
I’d munch a mountain of steak
or even strawberry cake
but what I’m given to feast
is barely fit for a beast.
It isn’t easy bein’ a dog.

Sometimes a canine’s life is hard,
like when I need to use the yard.
At noon I scratched on the door
and almost went on the floor,
so then I cried and I cried
until they let me outside,
but when they let me back in
it was a quarter to ten.
It isn’t easy bein’ a dog.

A puppy’s lot in life is bad.
Just being muddy makes them mad.
I always have to beware
and not get dirt in my hair
or else, the worst of my woes,
they bathe me off with the hose.
It can’t get badder than that,
but hey… at least I’m no cat.
It isn’t easy bein’ a dog.
