1591 – Rise and Shine

Rise and Shine
I’ll rise, but there’s no guarantee of shining…

The Wake Up War

Today, as every day before,
I waged another wake up war
Where papa beckons, “out of bed!”
But I refuse, and snooze instead.

I never wish to leave, it seems,
The sweet, delicious, land of dreams
But then the bed starts shaken-ing.
Another rude awakening!

The sheets and blankets swiftly stripped.
The blinds are drawn. The lights are flipped.
The window shades go up: surprise!
And sunlight streams into my eyes.

“Okay, okay, I’m up!” I say.
A victory for dad today.
I’ll never win the wake up war.
Just five more measly minutes… (SNORE).
