The Leaning Tower
In Pisa, there teeters a towering sight
that totters a trifle too far to the right.
And thousands of tourists have traveled and seen
and woefully wondered: so why does it lean?
The tower’s foundation is spongy and soft
and many have ventured it won’t stay aloft.
It’s hung in the balance for hundreds of years,
but doesn’t keel over in spite of their fears.
So when will it tumble, or will it stand tall,
this most slanted, most canted tower of all?
Though some have suggested its imminent swoon,
I doubt that it’s toppling anytime soon.
