Punished for my Art
I’m often told: be brave and bold
with every art creation,
but this time momma chose to scold
my latest inspiration.
Now here I’ll sit as punishment
until the art’s removal:
this dismal corner where I’m sent
for earning disapproval.
And thought I’ll miss my masterpiece
I sense no admiration
as mom applies some elbow grease
against my illustration.
I understand her umbrage, though:
I disappointed mother
by drawing a mustachio
upon my baby brother.
What fun, Samuel! Love both the illustration and the poem. I’m sure any kid who knows to use ‘umbrage’ would fashion a very fine ‘mustachio.’
Nicely done. Excellent title &, like Violet, I appreciate the use of “umbrage” and “mustachio”!
Adorable poem and accompanying illustration! I understand Mother’s disapproval, but brother looks pretty distinguished a la mustachio!
