#840 – Not a Butterfly

Not a Butterfly
Butter? Yes. Butterfly? No.

The Dumbest Mistake

I’ve met many smarties
at picnics and parties
who frequently fancy a fight
to prove they’re the brightest –
their arguments, rightest:
unmatched, their mentality’s might.

But told they’re mistaken,
they’ll argue unshaken
despite what the evidence shows.
And though they’re defeated,
insipid, repeated:
they’re right from their tip to their toes.

It’s under-impressive:
becoming aggressive
instead of just getting along.
The dumbest mistake
any smart kid can make
is to never admit when they’re wrong.

Today’s power vocabulary word “insipid” was recommended by my friend J.B. He is the husband of Beetle, of “Thursdays are Dog Days” fame.
