Stuck on the Slide
I’m terrorized, paralyzed, frozen with fear:
I’m stuck at the top of the slide.
The others around me are starting to jeer.
I’m mortified, nowhere to hide.I say, “It’s the day that I’ll go all the way.”
I know I can go if I’m bold,
but find when I’ve climbed that I’m up there to stay.
My blood becomes icy and cold.I’ve crested the top, but there’s no going down.
Now, none of the others can play.
They’re staring. Embarrassing. Can’t help but frown,
This happens to me every day!My gripping is slipping. My knuckles are white.
Oh, why does this happen to me?
I’m wholly and totally flooded with fright.
I’m going! Oh no-ing! I’m WHEEEEEEE!
Thursdays are dog days!
