1081 – No Sledding Today

No Sledding Today
I’m not even sure why Alabamians own sleds.

No Snow in Alabama

We live in a location
where it never, never snows.
I need a day’s vacation
but the schools will seldom close.

The mercury is falling
and the winds begin to blow,
but isn’t it appalling
that this never leads to snow?

We want accumulation
of some whitish winter stuff.
There’s no precipitation
of that frozen, flaky fluff.

The weatherman’s prediction:
“Lots of snow, folks! stay inside!”
But what he said was fiction,
since it’s clear he merely lied.

This wimpy winterama
where the flakes don’t ever fall:
the snow in Alabama
is the rarest kind of all.
