1353 – Never Play with Matches

Never Play with Matches
If you don’t ask where I got the bucket, I won’t ask where you got the matches.

Only You

Forest fires burning bright
Eating everything in sight
Started with a single match
Grew on undergrowth and thatch
Aided by a gentle breeze
All too soon consumed the trees
Blazing pines and birch and oak
Fill the air with soot and smoke
Ashy acres in their trail
Efforts to contain them fail

Heed the measures to prevent
Fire’s horrible ascent
Smoky’s words were stern but true:
Who prevents them? “Only you.”

Forest fires burning bright
Eating everything in sight
