#909 – Mow Your Yard

Mow Your Lawn
“While you’re at it… would you mind mowing mine?

Mow Your Yard

My neighbors say, “Please cut your grass.
It isn’t very hard.
We’re sure you must be busy, but
It’s time to mow your yard.”

Their lawns are closely cropped and shorn
a mere six inches high,
but in my yard the green grows on
and stretches toward the sky.

And while it’s true the grass gets long
inside this lawn of mine,
if six mere inches seems supreme,
are not three feet divine?

They say they hate my lengthy lawn:
this field of flowing hay,
but I suspect they’re envious
I’ve got more grass than they.
