#487 – I Didn’t Do It

I Didn't Do It
Okay, moment of truth: it was leprechauns. Again.

Thursdays are dog days!

I Didn’t Do It

I’m not guilty of scrawling those things on the wall.
No, it must have been some other kid.
And it wasn’t myself, maybe somebody else
who has smeared all the bookshelves with squid.

No it just wasn’t me – though you might disagree –
who shoved mommy’s new purse down the sink.
And some fiend or some foe or some monster I know
who repainted dad’s car blue and pink.

All the stains on the rug? Muddied up by a bug
that somehow got its feet in my shoes.
Sister’s shredded green dress? Was a bear, I confess.
I’m so sorry to give you that news.

But I’m very ashamed – for I must take this blame.
There is one thing I just can’t deny:
The recycling (pout) I forgot take out…
Sad but true, I cannot tell a lie.
