1635 – Eleven Feels Taller

Eleven Feels Taller
Happy birthday to my eleven-year-old son, Andrew!

You Can’t Turn Eleven

I say, dear son, with deep regret:
You cannot turn eleven yet.

I’ve checked the list, and checked again,
Of things you should’ve done at ten
And found some tasks you’ve left undone.
You’re ten again, not double-one.

“What tasks?” you ask.
I’ll never say.
So ten, dear son, you’re gonna stay.
