#708 – Eat Your Peas

Eat Your Peas
If my peas were making such a show, I’d poke them with a fork out of spite.

Tara Lee and the Peas

A sad, sad girl was Tara Lee
who just refused to eat a pea.
With dinner gone, she asked to play
but sadly, mother made her stay…

She’d chewed and chowed so very much
but still her peas remained untouched
and so her mother made her wait
until one pea had left her plate.

But that would be a dreadful feat
because she found them hard to eat
and so she frowned and gave a pout
and tried to wait her mother out…

She waited through the night and day
but still her mother made her stay.
She waited months and years and more
but still she sat, just as before…

Now Tara Lee is old and gray
but still her mother makes her stay.
Until, at last, she eats one pea,
a sad, sad girl is Tara Lee.
