#455 – Afraid of Second Grade (in color!)

Afraid of Second Grade - in color!
Be tardy at your own peril!

Afraid of Second Grade

I am afraid of second grade –
I hear it is the worst;
a million, billion, zillion times
more difficult than first.

I hear the math is deadly, and
the homework is a bore.
They also say the teacher is
a raging dinosaur.

I hear you never take a break;
just read and read all day
from beastly books filled up with words
that I can barely say.

They fill you full of learning ’till
your brains are bruised and sore.
I am afraid of second grade,
but third grade scares me more.

This is some work that I’m doing to colorize the poems for an upcoming collection entitled “Afraid of Second Grade” which I hope to finish before the year’s end. This pic will likely be the book’s cover. If you’re interested in the colorizing process, take a look at the original post. It comes a long way from lunchbox doodle to actual illustration. I have far to go if I hope to finish!
