#568 – A Bear’s Feast

A Bear's Feast
I’m hopeful that the bear doesn’t have room for dessert after eating that ham.

Ten-foot tall guest

We had just settled down for a dinner and more.
That’s about when we heard “knock knock knock” on the door.

Now we didn’t expect any guests to appear,
so then what happened next filled us fully us with fear.

No one ever invited a bear to the feast,
but right then at our door was a ten-foot-tall beast.

First it shook daddy’s hand, then it growled with a grin,
and then asked dad politely if it could come in.

Daddy welcomed him it, that’s surprising, I know,
but would you tell a ten-foot-tall grizzly bear no?

We were frightened at first, but were soon made aware
that we’d just become hosts to a well-mannered bear.

It apologized next for arriving so late,
Then the bear helped itself to a big bear-sized plate.

It was always good-natured. It always said “please,”
and made sure to say “thank you” when mom passed the peas.

When the end had arrived to our big bear buffet,
then the bear washed the dishes and put them away.

So we welcomed it back to have supper each night.
We don’t care it’s a bear if it’s always polite.
