Too Tired
I’d like to climb the highest tree,
or swim across the widest sea,
or run from here to Tennessee,
but I am just too tired.It might be nice to go and play,
or fly a kite beside the bay,
or “borrow” uncle Frank’s toupee,
but I am just too tired.I’d make a house with sticks and glue,
or wrestle with a kangaroo,
or even paint my brother blue,
but I am just too tired.I’m lying in a crumpled heap
and wishing I could get some sleep.
Perhaps I should try counting sheep…
but I am just too tired.
