1415 – Featherless

Featherless
“I swear, I was just borrowing them.”

Bird Bank

There’s a Bird Bank up above us
which is where the birdies go
to deposit extra plumage and
the feathers that they grow.
If they want to leave deposits
then they fly into the bank
where they pick their finest feathers
and they pluck them with a yank.

They turn down into down payments
or the bank can loan them quills
if they haven’t got the plumage
when they pay their feather bills.
It’s a counting house for feathers:
Bird Bank Savings, Loan, and Trust.
If they wish to save their pinions,
then the Bird Bank is a must.

Ask an owl or any egret
“Do you really need a bank
to deposit all your feathers
like a Dollar, Mark, or Franc?”
And the bird, in turn, will ask you
“Show your feathers… let me see”
When you can’t, the bird will tell you,
“You need Bird Bank more than me.”
