#843 – Spider’s Nightmare

Spider's Nightmare
More afraid of us than we are of them my foot.

What I Do with Spiders

As masters of weaving their homes and their beds
of nearly-invisible gossamer threads
for hanging and hunting and trapping their prey,
I marvel at spiders I find in the day.
But if one slinks past in the dark of the night
or surges from shadows to fill me with fright
or plunges from ceilings to rest on my head,
I won’t have a problem with squishing it dead.

Special mention to my friend John Bonner who suggested the challenge word “gossamer” today. Want to challenge me? Suggest a difficult vocabulary word in the comments below. If I choose your word, I’ll mention you in the post and link to your website and twitter account!
