The Toy Doctor
My brother, the doctor,
takes care of his toys,
replacing the pieces
that stopped making noise,
re-fluffing their stuffing,
restitching their tears,
repainting the trimming
in need of repairs,
with hammers and zippers
and buttons and glue,
and when he’s completed,
they’re better than new,
then smirks at his work
with a devilish grin:
he smashes them all and
starts over again.
