Afraid of Second Grade
I am afraid of second grade –
I hear it is the worst;
a million, billion, zillion times
more difficult than first.I hear the math is deadly, and
the homework is a bore.
They also say the teacher is
a raging dinosaur.I hear you never take a break;
just read and read all day
from beastly books filled up with words
that I can barely say.They fill you full of learning ’till
your brains are bruised and sore.
I am afraid of second grade,
but third grade scares me more.
