1511 – The Pie Safe

The Pie Safe
Truth: it’s not really a safe, but a box painted green.

No one owns it

No one owns the stars that shine.
No one owns the airs.
None can say, “the moon is mine.”
None can claim it’s theirs.

No one owns the beaming sun,
not its heat, its light.
No one owns it – no, not one –
owns the day or night.

No one owns the rains that fall.
No one owns the breeze.
No one, no one, none at all
lay a claim to these.

Every single inch of sky,
nobody can own,
but this piece of tasty pie,
this is MINE alone.
