Last Day of Second Grade
From August ’till the end of May
We’ve sat for hours every day
and now the end’s not far away:
Last Day of Second Grade! We’ve studied, read, and learned and learned
until our brains felt boiled and burned.
Mere minutes now ’till we’ve adjourned.
Last Day of Second Grade! We’ll miss our friends; we’ve made a few.
Perhaps we’ll miss our teacher too,
but still, we’re ready to be through.
Last Day of Second Grade! One hundred eighty days have passed.
Now summer break approaches fast.
Then THREE! TWO! ONE! We’re done at last!
Last Day of Second Grade!
Thursdays are dog days!
I’m so proud of Andrew and all that he has accomplished in second grade this year. Third grade won’t know what hit them!
Also… holy moley! I can’t believe that I’ve finished three years of lunchbox doodles! Who’d have thought that I’d still be doing this today? Certainly not me. And 180 poems too? Boy, is my pen ever exhausted!
Congratulations to you AND Andrew…sounds like you’ve both had a busy year!
What fun to visit your site. Thanks for sharing your poem and drawing today. Lunchbox Doodles are a great idea :).
There’s no feeling like the freedom of last day! Nice poem and doodle.
Do you know Alison Kipnis Hertz’s Doodle Day May challenge on Facebook? http://alisonhertz.blogspot.com/2013/05/doodle-day-may-day-24.html
Amazing accomplishments – finishing 2nd grade and your poetry/lunchbox doodles. Thanks for sharing. =)
Awww, congrats to Andrew! What a sweet poem to write in commemoration of this big event. And congrats to you, too. I wish I could write 180 poems. That’s amazing! Where do you find the time? What’s your secret? 🙂
VERY fun!!
